East-Central Prescribed Burn Association Interest Meeting
We will be holding an interest meeting for a PBA in East-Central Indiana on December 3rd, 2026 in Muncie. Come learn about prescribed fire in Indiana, what exactly a PBA is, and how you can get involved!
Harrison County PBA Formation Meeting
If you live in or near Harrison County, please join us to officially kick off our Prescribed Burn Association! All are welcome at this meeting, where we will decide on the structure and rules of the group and elect the board. The meeting will be at the Sam Shine Conservation Innovation Center (8771 Schuler Rd, Greenville, IN 47124) on Wednesday, October 21st at 6pm. No registration required!

Prescribed Fire Volunteering at Merry Lea – Short Notice November-March
Some of the ecosystems at Merry Lea benefit from prescribed fire, and it takes a crew of people to make fire happen in a safe way! Volunteers of all backgrounds and experience levels are welcome to participate in this activity. If you are interested, but not sure you are ready to actively participate, you are welcome to come observe a fire as well. Reach out to Freyakb@Goshen.EDU with any questions and to get on the email notification list for Prescribed Fire at Merry Lea. Freya will follow up with additional information.

Prescribed Fire Training for Volunteers (Indoors) – Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center
Join us for an indoor training session to learn about the history, ecology, and methodology of prescribed burning in our region. We’ll discuss why and how prescribed fire is conducted at Merry Lea and other similar sites in the region. This training will offer a good foundation for understanding the big picture of prescribed fire. It is highly recommended to attend this training if you would like to volunteer for prescribed fire events but not required. Email Freyakb@Goshen.EDU to sign up. Registration is required.
