Basic Wildland Firefighter Training – FFT2 Red Card Certification – March 6th, 2026

This is a one-day training for people interested in qualifying for the Wildland Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2) certification. This training fulfills the requirements for the field exercise portion of S-130 Firefighter Training. Participants who complete this training, along with designated online modules (approx. 32 hrs), and a work-capacity test (pack test), will qualify for a NWCG “Red Card” certification. A “Red Card” is a requirement to work on wildland fire crews and to participate in prescribed fire for some agencies and organizations. This coursework also partially fulfills the requirements for the Indiana DNR Certified Prescribed Burn Manager (CPBM) certification.

Prerequisites:

Participants must complete the following NWCG and FEMA online self-study modules before participating in this workshop:

  • NWCG – S-130, S-190, L-180
